Wachusett Greenways
Connecting the Wachusett Community with Trails and Greenways
August 2002 Activities

The Institute for Professional Practice presented the proceeds of their yard sale to Wachusett Greenways on Monday, August 18. The group shared refreshments and enjoyed fellowship on the trail. All $148 will be used to help build more of the Mass Central Rail Trail. The Institute is located in Westminster where four men have resided together since 1986. Several of their caregivers have been with them for many of those years. Sheila Sheehan and Paula Mattson noted that the men and their caregivers would like to help maintain the rail trail in West Boylston. They have enjoyed using the trail and expect to walk farther now that the trail is being extended. Sheila also expressed appreciation for the benches installed along the trail where they take pleasant rest stops.

MCRT to the Charlotte Kaplan bridge completed
The Mass Central Rail trail section between I-190 westward to the Charlotte Kaplan bridge is now complete. The contractor UEL has put down the top layer consisting of stone dust between these two points. There remains the other section between the two Kaplan bridges where the town of Holden has indicated they may start trail grading this fall.
