June 10 - Biodiversity Days at Poutwater Pond. Bill Johansen led a tour of this unique bog. Bill prepared a report on the this
ecosystem. To receive a copy send e-mail request with your snail mail address to colleen.abrams@verizon.net

June 16 - Monoosnoc Trail hike in Leominster. Peder Pedersen led this seven mile hike on the new trail developed by Leominster
Land Trust's Trails Committee. Peder and Ed Yaglou were amazed that, within the City of Leominster, they walked six miles without
seening a single house.

The southern end of the Monoosnoc Trail begins where May Street ends in Leominster. From the Wachusett towns travel N. on Route 12 and turn left onto Litchfield Street. At the end turn left on Union Street, then left on Pleasant Street, and after 1/4 mile right on May Street to the
end--where the Monoosnoc Trail begins.

June 23 and 24 - Heifer Project International Fair at Overlook Farm in Rutland. Wachusett Greenways manned a table where we
met several new friends looking for trails and bike paths for their families in the Wachusett area. Hosts were Karin Komenda,
Sherron Carson, Ed Yaglou, Mike Peckar, Arnold Gaskin, Colleen Abrams and coordinated by Pauline Cloutier.

July 8 - White Oak Land Conservation Society hosted an Eagle Lake Day with kayaks and good company.

July 14 - Trail clearing on the MCRT Connector. Volunteers Ben Hummon, Tim and Carol Clark, Laurie Gaskin, Youl Bellil, Gary
Gaskin, Colleen Abrams and leader Ed Yaglou did some final clearing here. Trail construction will be done in August and September.

July 21 - Clearing at River Street in Holden. Volunteers Sue Hall, Ben Hummon, Peter Taylor and leader Ed Yaglou cleared a short
stretch of Bob DiPerrio's section of the rail bed south of River Street. They created a maneuvering site in anticipation of the
Jeremiah Kaplan bridge arrival this fall.

July 28 - MCRT Rutland section at Wachusett Street. Colleen Abrams and sister Darleen Williams enjoyed a picnic, bike ride and
day lily planting at the rail trail. The rock is now engraved and the new lilies should set if off with just-right colors next summer.
Plantings from last fall including blueberries and other bird favorites survived the winter. The bulletin board built by Anthony
Costello and painted by Ginny Ursin awaits a roof designed by Ed Yaglou. The entry sign is in production. Dick Williams will install
the entry bollards soon. When the connector to Holden at Rt. 68 is complete we'll have a grand opening. Meanwhile Joe Collins
and his golden retriever, Glory, are enjoying the trail.
