Wachusett Greenways
June 2001 Activities
National Trails Day
- June 9, 2001
Wachusett Greenways
celebrated National Trails Day (posponed from June 2 due to rain)
by hosting an informational table setup at the entrance to the
Mass Central Rail Trail in West Boylston, MA. Greenways members
took turns at the table site throughout the day. There were several
new membership signups as well as people inquiring about the trail
progress. It was a great day weatherwise and there was a great
amount of interest shown by those who visited us.
Brush Clearing Performed
at Springdale Mill Site
Holden, MA - June
30, 2001
The work was done by David Kaplan, Youl Bellil, Mike Peckar, and
two of Mike's kids. They worked around the dam, both above and
below, clearing trees and brush. They left logs cut in 4 ft.
lengths, so volunteers will be needed to move them to the side
of the trail.
Also, a tour of the mill site was provided for a newspaper reporter
and photographer, who are writing an article about the MCRT and
the mill interpretive site.
