The second
annual Wachusett Greenways celebration provided activities for children of all
ages. Children put their creative energies to work at the nature-inspired
art work table. Using a map as a guide, participants visited a variety of
sites where they had their faces painted, went on a treasure hunt/nature walk,
and estimated the number of beans in a large jar. Rutland Police officers
provided helmet and bicycle safety checks.
Walking and bicycling on the Mass
Central Rail Trail and the Midstate Trail, youngsters were on the look-out
for the "Green Man".
As participants enjoyed listening to the music of the Thundertones, they indulged a lunch break of hot dogs, cookies, drinks, chips, and popcorn.
With sunshine, a gentle breeze, and lots of fun, the day turned out to be a perfect 10.
