The bridge footings were installed in Sterling, MA., May 10, 2004. UEL Construction poured the footings for the Rail Trail bridge across Lake Washaucum. The bridge sections are waiting on Manning St. in Holden ready to be installed here in Sterling. Wachusett Greenways will request Lahey Construction to move the bridge sections to Sterling for installation. The date has not been set yet.

After much delay and cold weather, the new Quag bridge was finally installed over Lake Waushacum in Sterling, MA on May 27, 2004.

Wachusett Greenways will soon issue a contract for the 1.66 mile trail surfacing job,  stretching between the Cider Mill area in downtown Sterling and Gates road.

          

        Ruth Kruczynski of Sterling appreciated the long-awaited bridge.           Ed Yaglou and rangers Rick Mathews and Kelly Frieda help

The Leahys contributed several  moves from Sterling to Oxford to Holden and finally to Sterling.

Larry Stoddard  has donated  stumping and rough grading service for the rail trail in Sterling.
 

 


 
   The many granite sign posts were installed by Wachusett Greenways volunteers at the Springdale Mill Site next to the Mass Central Rail Trail,  May 17,  2004. These signs describe the various buildings and functions of the Mill  prior to 1900.
