Gengel Construction volunteered time and equipment on November 17, 2003 as a continued effort to complete the MCRT in Rutland. In the left photo the trail is almost cleared to RT. 56. In the right photo, Gengel's shovel operator is pulling up remaining tree stumps from both sides of the trail between Watson's Estates and RT. 56. After this, the road bed will be scraped to remove the soft surface and will be replaced with gravel from the surplus shale left over from the aquaduct tunnel construction that connects the Quabbin and the Wachusett Reservoirs.
Gengel Construction continues to remove the soft/wet trail bed near Watson's Estates in Rutland 11-24-03.
