Join Wachusett Greenways and the Green Mountain Club for this 3-mile hike. You may wish to bring microspikes for hiking. This round-trip hike will ascend 300 feet in elevation through the North Sterling woods, traversing Sterling Land Trust, Mass. Fish and Wildlife and DCR open fields. Come along and enjoy this isolated pond that few venture to in winter. To reach the Poutwater Pond parking area, exit at Rt. 140 from I190 (exit 5 heading north from Worcester). Follow Rt 140 north (approximately 2 miles) to the intersection of Rt. 140 and Rt 62. Turn left on Rt. 62 and follow it to Holden Road (less than 0.2 mi) on the left. This left hand turn is just before the West Sterling Athletic Fields. Follow Holden Road for about a mile to a parking lot located on the right side of the road across from the Holden/Sterling town line (a sign indicates the town line).
