June 10, Saturday, 10am-12 noon. Four to 4 1/2 miles of moderate difficulty. Greenways will join forces with Park Spirit and hike some of their trails on the west side of the city. We’ll start at Cascades Park in Tatnuck with views of Worcester’s largest waterfall (aka cataract), overlooking northern hardwood forests and passing vernal pools. We should witness frogs and Pileated woodpeckers or signs thereof along the way as we continue into Boynton Park in Paxton. There will be a shuttle back to the cars for those who want to end their hike here. From there is a bit of street walking to reach park land near the Worcester Regional Airport. Eventually we’ll reach Tetasset Ridge that takes us in remarkably pristine parts of undeveloped land before ending at another Worcester City park on Mill St. We will carpool back to our cars. Contact Christy Barnes to sign up, 508-755-6321, christybarnes0706@gmail.com .
Note: This is part of a three hike series that Park Spirit offers, visiting 17 different green spaces that traverse the city of Worcester. Visit parkspirit.org for details (& a map).
