The Mass Central Rail Trail – Wachusett Greenways section through Rutland, Oakham and Barre is highlighted in the 2026 Mass Trails 10 featuring wonderful trails. You are invited to join Wachusett Greenways for a bike ride or walk on this section of the MCRT Friday, October 23rd, 1 p.m.
We will meet at 1 p.m. at the MCRT parking lot in Rutland at Route 122, one mile northwest of the intersection with Route 122A. The location is Barre Paxton Road (Rte. 122), Rutland (42.36737752287484, -72.00197922657726). You’ll see white reflector strips standing along the road at the parking and an accessible portable restroom.
Riders will go west 4.5 miles, then ride back to the beginning. Then riders will ride 4+ miles east and reverse to the starting point. Total ride distance is 17 miles. Riders can stop midway at the entry point if you wish.
Walkers will walk west and east up to 3 miles total.
We’ll share refreshments and encouragement to continue building and maintaining the MCRT Wachusett Greenways 30 mile section.
The Mass Central Rail Trail is growing along the 104+ mile corridor between Northampton and Boston. Come enjoy this treasured trail with us!
